Wealth Management And Financial Advisory Case Study

How We Grew GoalBased's Search Visibility 11.3× With Compliant Content

GoalBased already had the fiduciary model, the financial expertise, and a credentialed advisor behind the firm.

What it did not have was enough structured content to appear while people researched retirement withdrawals, required minimum distributions, investor protection, generational wealth, and how to choose an advisor they could trust.

We used our proprietary CITE framework to turn that expertise into a connected library of more than 300 financial guides. Each guide was built for clarity, search visibility, and AI retrieval, then passed through 92 automated compliance checks before publication.

Between March and July 2026, GoalBased's monthly Google impressions increased from 1,082 to 12,218, an increase of 11.3 times.

The client

GoalBased Had The Credentials. Its Expertise Needed A Searchable Home.

GoalBased is a goal-based wealth management firm and a DBA of Keystone Financial Group, an SEC-registered investment adviser.

The firm is led by Sean Melican, APMA, who holds the Series 7 and Series 66 registrations.

GoalBased builds Mission portfolios around specific financial objectives, operates through the Betterment institutional platform, and provides access to dedicated financial advice as client assets grow.

The advisory model and professional credibility were already established.

Our job was to make that expertise visible earlier in the research journey, before someone searched for GoalBased by name, while staying inside the advertising and disclosure standards that apply to a registered investment adviser.

The problem

GoalBased Was Missing From The Questions Potential Clients Asked Before Choosing An Advisor

People rarely begin their financial research by searching for a specific advisory firm.

They begin with questions such as:

  • What is an RMD, and when does it start?
  • How much can I contribute to my 401(k)?
  • What did SECURE 2.0 change?
  • Which states tax retirement income?
  • How do I check whether a financial advisor is a fiduciary?
  • What happens if a brokerage firm fails?
  • How do wealthy families approach generational wealth?
  • What is the difference between a TSP and a 401(k)?

GoalBased had the expertise to answer these questions.

The website did not yet have enough structured content to appear consistently while investors, retirees, and families were researching them.

Large financial publishers, national brokerages, and comparison platforms occupied much of the available search space.

GoalBased was easiest to find after someone already knew the firm. We needed to help it appear while potential clients were still defining the problem and deciding whose guidance they could trust.

What we did

We Applied Our Proprietary CITE Framework To Build A Compliant Financial Knowledge System

We did not approach GoalBased as a standard blogging engagement.

We deployed CITE, our proprietary framework for turning first-party expertise into structured search and AI visibility infrastructure.

For GoalBased, that meant solving two problems at the same time:

  1. The firm needed enough content to cover the financial questions its market was researching.
  2. Every page needed to meet a strict and repeatable compliance standard before it could be published.

We built the library around:

  • retirement income and withdrawals
  • required minimum distributions
  • SECURE 2.0
  • 401(k), TSP, and contribution rules
  • tax-aware retirement planning
  • state retirement taxes
  • generational wealth
  • investor protection and custody
  • fiduciary standards
  • advisor selection
  • brokerage risk
  • goal-based investing

By the end of the reporting period, we had created a searchable financial library spanning more than 300 educational guides.

The number of guides expanded GoalBased's coverage, but volume was not the strategy.

Our CITE framework determined why each guide existed, which question it answered, which source supported its claims, how it connected to related content, and which compliance requirements it had to clear before publication.

Our proprietary methodology

CITE Was The Operating System Behind The Work

Many financial-content programs begin with a keyword list and end with a collection of disconnected articles.

We built CITE to create something more useful. For GoalBased, we used it to connect the firm's expertise, advisory model, credentials, services, and client questions into one coherent information system.

01

We Started With Real Financial Questions

We mapped the questions people ask while planning for retirement, comparing financial accounts, protecting their assets, and choosing an advisor. Every page had a defined role in that research journey.

02

We Turned Expertise Into First-Party Content

GoalBased already understood fiduciary advice, goal-based investing, portfolio planning, and retirement decisions. We turned that knowledge into clear educational pages that people and search systems could understand.

03

We Connected Related Topics

RMDs connected to retirement withdrawals. Withdrawals connected to taxes. Taxes connected to state planning, SECURE 2.0, and portfolio decisions. Each guide strengthened a wider subject area instead of existing in isolation.

04

We Built For Search And AI Retrieval

We used direct answers, question-led sections, structured summaries, FAQs, named authorship, verified sources, and structured data to make the information easier to discover, interpret, and reuse.

05

We Built Compliance Into Production

Compliance was not a review added after a guide was written. It was part of the publishing system itself, and every guide had to pass the same automated checks before it could go live.

92 checks before publication

We Built Compliance Controls Into Every Guide

Financial content can create risk when rules, limits, fees, or disclosures are incomplete or out of date. We built a controlled publishing workflow to reduce that risk.

01

Verifiable Sources Behind Financial Claims

Where a guide stated a figure, rule, or regulatory requirement, we linked it to a source readers could verify, including the IRS, the SEC, FINRA, the Federal Reserve, the Social Security Administration, and state revenue departments. Each source link was checked before publication.

02

Current-Year Figures

Time-sensitive information such as contribution limits, tax thresholds, and retirement ages was checked against the relevant current-year source, reducing the risk of publishing figures that had already changed.

03

Named, Credentialed Authorship

The guides were published under Sean Melican, APMA, connecting the content to an identifiable advisor rather than anonymous financial information.

04

Accurate Disclosures

Our checks enforced the required firm and advisory disclosures across the library.

05

Controlled Performance Language

The system blocked performance guarantees, unsupported outcomes, and claims that could not be verified.

06

Accurate Fee And Service Descriptions

References to GoalBased's fees, services, and advisory relationship had to match the firm's approved information.

07

Structured Data Validation

Each page included structured data describing the article, author, organization, services, and FAQs.

In total, every guide cleared 92 automated checks before publication. That allowed us to scale the library without removing compliance from the production process.

Built for clarity and retrieval

Every Guide Followed The Same Repeatable Standard

01

Answer-First Openings

We answered the primary question near the top of the page, so readers did not have to work through a long introduction before reaching the information they came for.

02

Question-Led Headings

We structured each guide around the follow-up questions people commonly ask in Google and AI assistants.

03

Structured Key Takeaways

Every guide included a scannable summary of the most important points.

04

Multi-Question FAQs

We answered related questions on the same page where doing so improved the resource.

05

Primary-Source Citations

We linked rules, figures, and thresholds to sources readers could inspect for themselves.

06

Connected Internal Links

We connected each guide to related topics and relevant GoalBased services.

Together, these standards turned hundreds of individual pages into one connected financial library.

Search visibility

We Grew Monthly Search Impressions More Than Elevenfold

GoalBased started in March 2026 with 1,082 Google impressions. By July, monthly impressions had reached 12,218, an increase of 11.3 times in five months.

The growth did not come from one sudden spike. Visibility increased month after month as more guides were published, indexed, and matched to the questions people were searching.

Across the full reporting period, GoalBased generated 33,987 Google impressions. This was an early-stage search footprint being built from a standing start, and the most important result was the expanding coverage and consistent upward trajectory.

Search coverage

GoalBased Began Appearing Across At Least 1,000 Financial Queries

The latest Google Search Console export reached its 1,000-query reporting limit. Within those measured queries, and across the pages behind them, the footprint looked like this:

High-relevance searches

GoalBased Reached Questions About Retirement, Fiduciary Advice, And Generational Wealth

  • "Federal TSP" at an average position of 2

  • "What life events should trigger hiring a financial advisor" at 2.08
  • "What is a TSP" at 2.13

  • "How to check if financial advisor is fiduciary SEC FINRA" at approximately 7.25

These searches placed GoalBased inside decisions involving retirement accounts, major life changes, advisor trust, and long-term family planning.

AI answer readiness

We Built The Library So AI Assistants Can Understand And Attribute It

AI systems need content they can interpret, extract, and connect to a clear source. We built every GoalBased guide with:

  • a direct opening answer
  • question-led headings
  • structured takeaways
  • multi-question FAQs
  • named authorship
  • primary-source references
  • valid structured data
  • clear organizational relationships

These elements make the pages easier for search and AI systems to process.

We are not claiming a verified AI citation result in this case study. The result reported here is that we built the underlying content and entity infrastructure required for GoalBased to compete for that visibility as the library matures.

The shift

From Limited Topic Coverage To A Searchable Financial Library

Before We Started

GoalBased already had:

  • a fiduciary advisory model
  • a credentialed advisor
  • a transparent, goal-based service
  • an established investment platform
  • expertise across retirement and financial planning

What it did not have was enough structured content covering the questions its market was researching. That limited the firm's ability to appear before someone already knew the GoalBased name.

After Five Months

We had helped GoalBased build:

  • more than 300 educational guides
  • 92 automated compliance checks per guide
  • 33,987 Google impressions
  • 12,218 monthly impressions in July
  • 11.3× monthly impression growth
  • at least 1,000 measured search queries
  • 95 measured queries with a top-10 average position
  • 229 educational guide URLs appearing in Google
  • 72 pages with a top-10 average position
  • a verifiable source behind financial rules and figures
  • a connected library built for search and AI retrieval

GoalBased's expertise now had a structured, measurable, and compliance-controlled home.

The difference

Our CITE Framework Joined Content, Compliance, And Search Into One System

01

We Published Consistently

We did not deliver a short burst of articles and stop. We built the library through a sustained publishing program.

02

We Gave Every Guide A Defined Purpose

Each page answered a specific financial question or supported a real research decision.

03

We Used Primary Sources

We supported financial rules, thresholds, and figures with recognized sources readers could verify.

04

We Built Compliance Into The Workflow

Every guide cleared 92 automated checks before publication.

05

We Made GoalBased's Expertise Explicit

We connected the content to Sean Melican, APMA, the GoalBased brand, and the firm's advisory model.

06

We Connected Related Topics

Retirement, taxes, generational wealth, investor protection, and advisor selection were built as connected subject areas.

07

We Measured The Result

We tracked search impressions, queries, positions, and visible pages so the publishing strategy could respond to real performance.

The result came from the infrastructure behind the library, not from publishing hundreds of disconnected finance articles.

What we achieved

We Gave GoalBased A Compliant Search Footprint That Is Still Growing

We took GoalBased from limited topic coverage to a broad and measurable presence across personal-finance search.

Monthly Google impressions increased more than elevenfold. The site began appearing across at least 1,000 measured queries, with dozens of pages and questions already holding top-10 average positions.

Most importantly, we created a publishing system GoalBased can continue to use. Every new guide follows the same structure. Every financial claim is controlled. Every source is checked. Every page connects back to a clear advisor and organization.

The rankings are still maturing, but the foundation is no longer missing. GoalBased now has more opportunities to appear while someone is still researching the problem, comparing options, or deciding which advisor to trust.

The work behind the result

We Start With The Visibility Gap, Then Build The Right Infrastructure

GoalBased needed more than additional blog content. It needed a system capable of publishing financial information at scale without separating visibility from compliance.

Another organization may need stronger first-party content, clearer positioning, better authority signals, or a more accurate view of which competitors are being recommended instead. We use our proprietary CITE framework to diagnose that gap and determine what should be built next.

How we measured this

The Results Reflect Search Visibility, Not Investment Performance

Search figures in this case study come from GoalBased's Google Search Console property for the period 1 March to 31 July 2026.

Content output was verified against the published guide library. The 92 automated checks refer to the pre-publication validation that every guide was required to pass.

This case study describes content, compliance infrastructure, and search visibility. It does not provide investment advice or make any claim about investment performance, client returns, or financial outcomes.

Search rankings and impressions change over time and should be re-measured before each reporting period.
